During the 2009/2010 year (7/1/09-6/30/10):
1,884 clients were served in the program, with 7,309 client visits during the year.
2,372 households & 3,848 individuals received assistance from the food pantry for emergency food needs.
166 clients were provided with emergency financial assistance through the Emergency Fund to prevent homelessness. Assistance was predominantly provided for utilities, rent, security deposits, transportation or emergency needs.
Many homeless and low-income clients received housing referrals and advocacy, resulting in 17 clients, some of whom have been chronically homeless, being accepted into a housing program.
55 clients received basic medical care on-site from Heartland Health Services
106 clients received assistance to obtain Illinois state identifications, which is an important step toward obtaining employment and housing.
330 homeless guests participated in St. Vincent de Paul Center’s annual fall outreach luncheon and resource fair, and received a warm thanksgiving meal, winter clothing, toiletries, and access to supportive services from other homeless service providers.
